From the history of the department

The Department of Agrotechnology and Industrial Ecology was established on September 1, 1998, directly at the initiative of its former head, PhD in Technical Sciences. Sayfulloev T.Kh., under the Khujand branch of the Technological University of Tajikistan, as the Department of Agrotechnology. In 2010, the Department of Agrotechnology, after the merger of two branches - the Branch of the Technical University of Tajikistan and the Branch of the Technological University of Tajikistan, became part of the Polytechnic Institute of the Tajik Technical University named after Acad. M. Osimi in the city of Khujand, in 2016 it merged with the Department of Food Technology and was renamed the Department of Food Production and Agrotechnology, in 2022, after the reorganization of the Department of Food Production and Agrotechnology, it was established as the Department of Agrotechnology and Industrial Ecology, including two specialties.

Department specialties:

1.      1-74.02.06 – Production, storage and processing of plant products (bachelor's and master's degrees) has been operating since 1998. This specialty is the only one in the field of production and processing of plant products in the Sughd region.

21-57 01 01 01 – Industrial Ecology and Rational Use of Natural Resources was established as a specialty under the department in 2019, and the first graduates graduated from this specialty in 2023.

To prepare high-level specialists in the listed specialties, students are taught by experienced teachers, candidates and doctors of science in their specialty.

Main Directions of Scientific and Creative Research of the Department

The Department of Agrotechnology and Industrial Ecology focuses its scientific, research, and creative activities on studying issues related to environmental protection, the rational use of natural resources, and the introduction of innovative technologies in the fields of agriculture and industry.

Main areas of scientific research

1.         Development of ecological technologies in industrial and agricultural production

2.         – studying ways to reduce waste, purify wastewater, and neutralize industrial and household waste.

3.         Efficient use of water, land and energy resources

4.         – developing energy-efficient irrigation methods, using renewable energies, and “zero-waste” technologies.

5.         Monitoring and assessment of the state of the environment

6.         – development of air, water and soil monitoring systems, use of GIS methods and environmental modeling.

7.         Improving the quality of agricultural products with biotechnological and environmentally friendly methods

8.         – studying the impact of environmental factors on crop productivity and quality.

9.         Implementation of international environmental standards (ISO 14000)

10.    – developing recommendations for enterprises to transition to environmental management and green production.

Creative and practical activities of the department

•             Development of practical environmental protection projects in enterprises and agricultural farms;

•             Establishing environmental analysis laboratories and training students in them;

•             Conducting field and production internships in the fields of irrigation, land reclamation, and green industry;

•             Participation in national and international scientific programs and grants on ecology and clean technologies;

•             Publication of scientific and methodological articles, recommendations and guides for farmers and students.
